Alongside her photographic practice, Giya Makondo-Wills is regularly invited to facilitate conversations with artists, thinkers, and cultural practitioners. As the host of the live talk show Fotodok Book Talks at Tivoli Vredenburg, she brings a dynamic presence to the stage, whether moderating panel discussions, leading one-on-one interviews, or opening exhibitions.

Giya’s strength lies in her ability to draw out thoughtful, generous, and revealing dialogue, particularly in live settings. Her background as both an artist and educator gives her a unique perspective, one that allows her to engage audiences while navigating the nuances of creative practice with clarity and care. She creates space for conversation that is both accessible and insightful, connecting people through shared curiosity and critical reflection. The topics she shares with audiences range widely, spanning geopolitical crisis, mythology and philosophy to anti-colonial resistance.
