operation legacy

2021

The work Operation Legacy was created in 2021 and it is a series of images and video piece that discuss the burning of files by the British colonial office (later the foreign office) between the 1950’s and the 1970’s. 

During this time, the fight for independence from British rule was at its height and with the liberation from colonial oppression was imminent, British officials create a programme to ensure that former colonies would not inherit files that related to the operations of the British Empire. 

This piece is born out of a frustration and anger that those who committed, led and enabled the hundreds of years of atrocities in every corner of the earth have never been held accountable.
